About the Event

This Workshop will examine the key aspects of a corporate restructuring exercise, its challenges and opportunities, and highlight the basic principles of doing business in the UAE.

This workshop will provide the participants with:

  • The legal and regulatory nature of business in the UAE
  • The key legal considerations of contracting between free zone and mainland companies
  • Insight on the corporate structuring optimization opportunities and pitfalls from a legal, corporate tax, VAT and customs perspective

Viktoria leads the Structuring, Restructuring and Family Business Department within PwC Legal and advises businesses in the MENA region.

Lama AlKhashi
Senior Associate, Legal

Lama's experiences include projects in KSA and UAE. Such projects include mergers and acquisitions, structuring and restructuring, due diligence exercises and asset and share transfers.

Mbali Nkuna
Senior Manager, Customs

Mbali has over 9 years of experience in advising domestic and multinational companies in Gulf Cooperation Council and South Africa relating to customs and international trade matters.

Anisa Kanji
Senior Manager, Value Added Tax

Anisa has been involved in the delivery of VAT implementation and technical projects for clients in the UAE, KSA, Bahrain and Oman. Anisa has significant experience in providing VAT technical advice to a variety of clients.

Shraddha Kothari
Senior Manager, Value Added Tax

Shraddha is a Manager in the PwC Middle East Corporate Tax team. Shraddha has over 8 years of experience in advising local (India based) and multinationals clients on Indian income-tax laws, international tax and exchange control regulations. Her scope of work included advising the clients on routine business transactions, corporate restructuring, tax due diligence, strategic tax planning and inbound / outbound investment strategies, assisting in income-tax assessment (tax litigation management) and assisting the clients in undertaking compliances related to the Indian income-tax and exchange control regulations.

Shraddha relocated to Dubai in 2022, previously working for other Big 4 firm where she gained extensive knowledge on international and corporate taxation.
